These terms apply whenever you use Laughbooker, whether you browse the site, create an account, send an enquiry, make a booking or buy a ticket. By using Laughbooker you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the site.

Our [Privacy Policy] explains how we use personal data and forms part of these terms.

3. What Laughbooker does

Laughbooker is an online platform that helps Bookers, Organisers and Venues find and contact Acts, manage events and sell tickets.

Unless we say otherwise in writing:

  • the contract for a performance is between the Booker and the Act (or the Act's Agent), not with Laughbooker;
  • we are not an employment agency or employment business, and we do not employ or supply Acts;
  • we do not guarantee that any Act is available, will accept a booking, or will perform in any particular way.

4. Unclaimed profiles and enquiries

Some Act profiles are unclaimed. An unclaimed profile:

  • is created from publicly available information;
  • does not mean the Act is affiliated with, endorses or has agreed to be booked through Laughbooker;
  • can only receive an enquiry, not a booking.

When you send an enquiry about an unclaimed Act, we will try to pass it to the Act or their representatives. We cannot guarantee a response, availability or a price. We do not take any payment for enquiries about unclaimed Acts.

If you are the Act, or represent them, you can claim the profile or ask us to correct or remove it by emailing info@laughbooker.com.

5. Accounts

To use some features you need an account. You must:

  • be at least 18;
  • give accurate information and keep it up to date;
  • keep your log-in details secure and not share your account;
  • tell us straight away if you think someone else has used your account.

You are responsible for everything done through your account. If you open an account on behalf of a business, you confirm that you are authorised to bind that business to these terms.

6. Agents

Agents can manage the profiles, availability, fees, enquiries and bookings of the Acts they represent from one account.

By adding, claiming or managing an Act, you confirm that:

  • you represent that Act and have their authority to manage their profile and accept bookings for them;
  • you have told them that their details will be held and shared on Laughbooker;
  • any booking you accept binds the Act, or you, as agreed between you and the Act.

An Act can still see and manage their own profile when an Agent manages it. If an Act tells us an Agent no longer represents them, we will remove that Agent's access to the Act's profile. Bookings already confirmed will continue unless the parties agree otherwise. We may ask for proof of representation at any time.

7. Acts

If you are an Act, or an Agent acting for one, you agree that:

  • your profile is accurate, including fees, availability and the content you upload;
  • you own, or have permission to use, all photos, videos and other content on your profile;
  • you will honour bookings you accept, or cancel them only in line with section 10;
  • you are responsible for your own tax, National Insurance, insurance and any licences or permissions your performance needs.

8. Bookings

8.1 How a booking works

  1. The Booker submits a booking request for a claimed Act, with the event details.
  2. The Booker pays a deposit of 20% of the booking fee to send the request.
  3. The Act, or their Agent, accepts or declines the request.
  4. If the request is accepted, the booking is confirmed, and the balance is taken at that point.
  5. If the request is declined, or isn't accepted within 30 days (or by the day before the event, if that's sooner), the deposit is refunded in full.

A booking is only confirmed when the Act or their Agent accepts it and we send confirmation.

8.2 Booking details

The Booker must give accurate details of the event, including the date, times, location, audience size, set length and any content restrictions. The Act may cancel without penalty if the details turn out to be materially different from those given.

8.3 Fees

The Act's fee is shown on their profile or quoted in response to an enquiry. Laughbooker charges the following fees. They cover the cost of running the platform, processing payments securely, handling enquiries, supporting bookings and resolving problems when they arise.

FeePaid byAmount
Booking service feeBooker15% of the Act's fee

Any fee you have to pay will be clearly shown, as part of the total price, before you pay. Fees for Organiser and Venue plans are shown on our Pricing page.

Prices are in pounds sterling. Whether VAT applies, and whether a price includes it, depends on the Act and the booking, and will be shown with the price or quote before you pay.

9. Payments

Payments are processed by Stripe. By making a payment you also agree to Stripe's terms.

Booking payments are collected through Stripe on the Act's behalf. We pass payment to the Act, or their Agent, after the event, less any agreed fees. We will tell Acts and Agents the payout timescale and method when they join, and before any change.

We are not responsible for delays caused by banks or payment providers.

10. Cancellations and refunds

10.1 Cancellation by the Booker

Notice given before the eventRefund
More than 28 daysFull refund, less the deposit
14–28 days50% of the balance, less the deposit
Less than 14 daysNo refund

10.2 Cancellation by the Act

If an Act cancels a confirmed booking, the Booker will get a full refund of everything paid, including the deposit. Where possible, we will help find a replacement Act, but we cannot guarantee one. Acts who cancel repeatedly without good reason may be removed from Laughbooker.

10.3 Events outside anyone's control

If an event can't go ahead because of something outside the parties' reasonable control, such as severe weather, illness, venue closure or government restrictions, the Booker will get a full refund, unless the parties agree a new date.

10.4 Consumer cancellation rights

If you are a consumer, the usual 14-day right to cancel online purchases does not apply to bookings or tickets for leisure services on a specific date (regulation 28(1)(b) of the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013). This doesn't affect your other statutory rights.

11. Tickets and events

When you buy a ticket for an event listed on Laughbooker:

  • the Organiser is responsible for the event, including line-up, venue, times, age restrictions, accessibility and refunds;
  • line-ups can change, and a change of Act is not usually grounds for a refund unless the Organiser says otherwise;
  • if an event is cancelled, the Organiser will refund the ticket price, and we will help process the refund where tickets were sold through Laughbooker;
  • where tickets are sold through another platform, that platform's terms also apply.

12. Organisers and Venues

If you are an Organiser or Venue, you agree that:

  • your event and venue listings are accurate and kept up to date;
  • you hold the licences, insurance and permissions your events need;
  • you are responsible for the safety of performers and audiences at your events;
  • you have permission for any names, images or branding you use in your listings, including Acts you list on a line-up;
  • when you ask us to publish an event to other platforms, you are responsible for complying with their terms.

Paid plans are described on our Pricing page. Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled, and you can cancel at any time from your account, effective at the end of the current billing period.

13. Your content

You keep ownership of anything you upload to Laughbooker, such as profiles, photos, videos, event listings and reviews.

You give us a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to host, display, copy and adapt that content to run and promote Laughbooker and your events, including publishing events to other platforms at your request. This licence ends when you delete the content or your account, except where the content has already been shared or is needed for records.

You must not upload content that:

  • you don't have the right to use;
  • is defamatory, discriminatory, harassing, obscene or illegal;
  • is misleading, including false reviews or false claims about bookings or endorsements;
  • contains viruses or harmful code.

We may remove any content that breaks these terms.

14. Acceptable use

You must not:

  • arrange bookings outside Laughbooker with an Act, Agent, Booker, Organiser or Venue you were introduced to through Laughbooker, in order to avoid our fees, for 12 months after the introduction;
  • impersonate anyone, or create a profile for an Act without the right to do so;
  • scrape, copy or harvest data from Laughbooker, including Act or venue contact details;
  • interfere with the site's security or operation;
  • use Laughbooker to send spam or unsolicited marketing.

Taking introductions off the platform to avoid fees undermines the trust Acts and Agents place in Laughbooker. If we find you have done so, we may suspend or permanently close your account.

15. Our intellectual property

Laughbooker, our logo, and the design and software of the site belong to us or our licensors. You may not copy or use them without our permission, except as needed to use the site normally.

16. Availability of the site

We aim to keep Laughbooker available, but we don't guarantee that it will be uninterrupted or error-free. We may change, suspend or withdraw any part of the site, for example for maintenance or improvements.

17. Our liability

Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited by law. If you are a consumer, nothing here affects your statutory rights.

Subject to that:

  • we are not liable for the acts or omissions of Acts, Agents, Organisers, Venues or Bookers, including performances, cancellations, conduct at events or payment disputes between them;
  • we are not liable for losses that were not foreseeable, or, for business users, for loss of profit, revenue, business or goodwill;
  • our total liability to you in connection with any booking or purchase is limited to the fees you paid to Laughbooker for it, and in any other case to £100.

18. Disputes between users

If you have a dispute with another user, such as a Booker and an Act, you should try to resolve it with them directly. We may help where we can, including by reviewing booking records, and we may decide how money held by us is released where the parties cannot agree. Our decision does not affect your legal rights against the other party.

19. Suspension and closing accounts

You can close your account at any time by contacting us or from your account settings. Confirmed bookings will still need to be honoured or cancelled under section 10.

We may suspend or close your account if you break these terms, if we suspect fraud or misuse, or if we are required to by law. Where reasonable, we will tell you why.

20. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. We will post the new version here and update the date at the top. If the changes are significant, we will tell account holders by email. Bookings already confirmed are governed by the terms in force when they were made.

21. General

  • If any part of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the rest still applies.
  • If we don't enforce a right straight away, we can still enforce it later.
  • You may not transfer your rights under these terms without our consent. We may transfer ours, for example if Laughbooker is sold or moved to another company.
  • No one other than you and us has rights under these terms, except that Acts and Bookers may enforce sections that apply to bookings between them.

22. Law and jurisdiction

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. Disputes will be dealt with by the courts of England and Wales. If you are a consumer living in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you may also bring proceedings in your local courts.
