Accessibility statement

Draft — wording to be approved by the owner.

Last reviewed: 11 October 2026

Laughbooker wants everyone to be able to find comedy, book acts and run nights, whatever their ability or the technology they use. This statement covers laughbooker.com, the organiser, comedian, agent and venue panels, and the emails we send.

The standard we aim for

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 (opens in a new tab) at level AA. The site is partially compliant: most of it meets the standard, and the exceptions are listed under "Known limitations" below.

What you can expect

  • A "Skip to main content" link at the top of every page, one main heading per page and headings in order.
  • Every page, menu, form, gallery and dialog can be used with a keyboard alone, with a clearly visible focus outline.
  • Text and controls meet the AA contrast ratios. We checked our brand colours and darkened the ones that fell short.
  • Images have text alternatives; decorative images and icons are hidden from screen readers.
  • Form fields have labels. Errors are described in words, linked to the field and announced.
  • Status messages such as "Copied" or a sent contact form are announced by screen readers.
  • Animation is reduced when your device asks for reduced motion, and nothing moves or plays on its own.
  • Pages are built to reflow on screens 320px wide, and when zoomed, without scrolling sideways.
  • Lists you can reorder by dragging can also be reordered with "Move up" and "Move down" buttons.
  • Every email is sent with a plain-text version as well as the formatted one.

Known limitations

  • Screen-reader testing. We have reviewed the code and added automated checks, but we have not yet completed a full test with NVDA and VoiceOver on our main journeys. Some problems may only show up then.
  • Video captions. Clips that acts upload do not have captions yet. YouTube and Vimeo clips use the captions set on those sites, if any.
  • Panels for organisers, acts and agents. These use a third-party framework (Filament). Some of its colours, such as gold link text on white, and some of its controls are outside our direct control. We are working on them.
  • Placeholder content. A few parts of the site, such as the newsletter sign-up in the footer and the map on the contact page, are placeholders while we finish them.
  • App install prompt. On phones, the prompt to install Laughbooker can cover the bottom of the page until you choose "Not now".
  • Content from other people. Event listings, photos and profiles written by organisers and acts may not always have good text alternatives or descriptions.

How we tested

We reviewed every public page and the custom parts of our panels against WCAG 2.2 AA in October 2026, measured the contrast of our colours, and added automated checks that run on every change to the site. We review this statement whenever we make a significant change, and at least once a year.
